Originally, I was planning on doing a “best of” for each of Nike, Adidas and Jordan but I realized that I pretty much covered my favourite Adidas (Wave Runner) and Jordan (Kaws/Tokyo/Off-White) sneakers in earlier posts.
Sitting here on the last day of 2017, looking at all the sneakers on my display, there can only really be one ‘favourite’. I always say that it is impossible to pick just one, that I love so many of my sneakers and appreciate them for different reasons. In the process of doing these posts though one has definitely risen to the top.
I think it’s pretty well known by now that I love the Air Max, and especially the Air Max 1, above any other model. It is perfect in it’s design and simplicity and in the way it can support very basic colour blocking (like the Red OG) and crazy colour blocking (like the Masters).
It’s also pretty well known that I am a huge fan of what Atmos has done with the Air Max. I am very, very close to completing my Atmos Air Max collection and hope to finalize it in 2018 with the Animals (and then the search for a pair of sole-swapped Viotechs at a price I am willing to pay). I love the way that Atmos focuses on animal print – something that is very much counter to my actual IRL personality and personal style lol.
So. When I really think about it, there is only one shoe I got this year that actually made me cry (ridiculous I know) because of how happy I was to get it. There is only one shoe that I pick when I need a bit of extra confidence or to feel an extra boost for the day.
It could only be the Nike x Atmos Air Max 1 Elephant.
I hope that 2018 brings me fewer sneakers but more that come close to making me feel as good as this one. I hope that 2018 brings everyone contentment and that you all achieve what you set out to do.
